This is quite a big update to the iPad Specs Matrix, just in time for WWDC 2024. I dropped the Air 2 and Mini 3 & 4 to make room for the new Air and Pro models that came out last month. The list now contains only iPads that support at least iPadOS 16 and that’s still a staggering 27 models .
New in the list: support for external displays (with max. resolution and refresh rate), Wifi version and Center Stage. These have replaced Split View, Arcade and ARKit, which are now supported by all models in the list. Benchmark results are now from Geekbench6, in line with the latest Specs Matrix for iPhones (I couldn’t find any results for two of the models, though).

Compatibility with iPadOS 18 comes with a big surprise, because the 2017 iPad Pro models with A10X chips and 4GB RAM are stuck at iPadOS 17, while iPad 7G with its regular A10 and 3GB RAM will support the new version – even though it doesn’t have the Neural Engine that seems to be crucial for the new AI features.
By the way: compatibility for iPhones is much simpler to figure out – all devices that support iOS 17 will also support iOS 18.
